The region Bastide du Calalou 1

Within the infinite spaces of the regional natural park of Verdon, Bastide du Calalou is the ideal starting point (see Access) to visit Provence and the Var :the virgin landscapes of the Verdon gorges, the lakes of Sainte-Croix and Esparrons, the villages of Tourtour, Moustiers-ste-Marie, Salernes and its ceramic museum, Aups and its truffles, Cotignac, the perched villages of the High Var, the abbey of Thoronet and the Prehistory Museum of Quinson, Sainte-Maxime and Saint-Tropez, the vineyards and olive trees.

AWith the litoral and its 430 km of coasts, you will enjoy the beaches boarded by parasol pine trees. Charming villages like Sainte-Maxime or Saint-Tropez will multiply you love for the south.

Hills are alternatively covered with olive trees, lavender fields, vineyards and small villages. Wild pathes lead you from waterfalls to roman chapels and offer you its history and traditions.

Overlooking the valley, Bastide du Calalou is located at 600 m’s altitude, in an area reputed for its dry and pure air, free from pollution, favourable to the well-being of those suffering particularly from respiratory conditions and sleeping difficulties

The hotel is situated at the conjuncture of the vineyards and olive trees of Provence : visiting vineyards and olive oil mills.

Planned routes for a day trip starting from the Calalou which can be followed by car or motorbike will help you discover the region : Gorges of the Verdon, the lakes of Sainte-Croix and Esparrons. Tourtour (village in the sky), Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Aups (capital of the black truffle), Sillans la Cascade. The cistercian abbey of the Thoronet, the Prehistory museum of Quinson (number 1 in Europe), hilltop hamlets of the high Var, unbroken countryside of the Verdon area.

Or even… Monaco, Nice, Marseille, Cassis, Toulon, Aix-en-Provence, Grasse, Saint-Paul de Vence, Sainte-Maxime and shuttle boat to Saint-Tropez.
